Fluffy the feral cat has once again been caught out in the cold! Continuing snow falls on Mt Mawson may mean a rescue operation is in order, I’m sure Parks will be happy to help…

Seriously though, there is a serious amount of snow up there and more is falling right through to Saturday.

A crew of club members will attempt to get up there tomorrow afternoon in order to commence digging out and preparing the Mawson tow ready for operation on Saturday.

There has been a lot of chat regarding access this week. The STSA has been in contact with State Growth, and they have advised they are aware of the need to get the Dobson Rd open and plan to have additional resources to tackle the task on Friday and Saturday.

I spoke to a long time mountain user this afternoon who walked the road yesterday from the bottom to Lake Dobson. He reported that the road was clear of snow and trees right through to the car park.

Hope to see you all up there to enjoy the best snowfall of season 2017!

I've been involved with Mt Mawson since 1990 as a volunteer and I'm a member of the Oldina Ski club. I'm into skiing, a bit of snow boarding, snow shoeing and I'm partial to taking the odd photo.
