I've been involved with Mt Mawson since 1990 as a volunteer and I'm a member of the Oldina Ski club. I'm into skiing, a bit of snow boarding, snow shoeing and I'm partial to taking the odd photo.
I sthere snow up at Mt Field, coz the Parks abd Wildlife have got little huts you can stay in up at Lake Dobson – we know there’s no pwer etc, but just wondering about Mt Field
Hi Rosie, there’s a little snow on the ground up there, (have a look at our web cams). Some more snow is forecast this weekend (see our forecast page for details). The Government huts are just below Lake Dobson which is at 1000M altitude. So if there’s snow on the ground on the ski field and snow is forecast, it would be wise carrying chains.
We're trialing a new EFTPOS system this Season - Please bring some cash backup in case we have any issues (for ticket and belt deposit). For safety, an ID card of some description is preferred for a belt deposit. This is so we can identify you if you don't return your belt at the end of your session
Pre Season - means the official season hasn't started
On Hold - means that we are in season but do not have enough snow to run
Open this Weekend - means that we intend to operate on the coming weekend subject to snow conditions and safety considerations
On Standby - means that we may operate again if we receive more snow, subject to volunteer availabity
Closed - means we are closed for the season. The ski area is still accessible for snow play
