Help keep Tassie’s community ski field running

The Mt Mawson skifield at Mt Field National Park is something of a rarity in today’s commercial environment – a ski field which is open to everyone and yet is run entirely by volunteers with no external funding sources other than the hire of tow belts when the tows are running.

There are, however, plenty of expenses to be covered – never-ending maintenance of equipment located outdoors in harsh winter conditions, safety equipment for the Mt Mawson Ski Patrol, expensive diesel to run the tow motors and the mandatory insurance costs etc.

All of this is covered by the Southern Tasmanian Ski Association (STSA) –  a not-for-profit organisation comprised of the six small ski clubs located at Mt Mawson.

As the winter chill settles in over the skifield and we all start to look for the snow needed to kick off the 2026 season there is an opportunity for you to directly help to keep the ski field running by making a donation via the website at http://www.mtmawson.info.

There is a small yellow box on the front page of the website you can click to access the donations page – it says “Donate with PayPal”  but you can also use a credit card, and even sign up for a monthly donation if you prefer.

A big shout out to Rachel Powers of Waterfalls Cafe at Mt Field facebook.com/WaterfallsCafeMountField/ who has kicked this season off with a generous donation – thanks Rachel!

All donations to help keep the Mt Mawson Ski Field are most welcome – and we look forward to seeing you up in the snow soon!
