Fagus (Nothofagus gunnii), Lake Fenton, Mount Field National Park

As advised previously, this weekend (22-23 April) the STSA will be conducting a final pre-season working bee at the Mt Mawson Ski Field. The timing has been picked to allow volunteers to undertake a few hours work on the ski field, prior to viewing the colours of the fagus (deciduous beech) on the Tarn Shelf. As an additional incentive hot drinks will be available from the ticket office on the Sunday.

The Saturday working bee will be led by Craig Larsson, with a focus on preparing the tows for operation, and a general tidy up. The Sunday working bee will be led by Peter Davis, with a focus on completing the replacement snow fence panels on the South side of the Mawson run.

Come on up to Mt Mawson this weekend to lend a hand with the ski field working bee, and enjoy some of the spectacular Autumn colours in the Derwent Valley and up in the Mt Field National Park. Meet at the Lake Dobson gate at 10 am both days.
