The snowbase is building at Mt Mawson (at least on the top half of the mountain) and so we plan to open this weekend 17-18 August. Conditions are likely to be marginal at first, but snow is forecast Saturday and Sunday (and into next week). The Hobart Walking Club and the Alpine Club of Tasmania are on duty to run the tows, and they will be assisted by a number of volunteers from other clubs. Volunteers always welcome to help out!
Please drive safely. It is recommended that you carry chains and fit them as appropriate as it is likely that there will be snow on the Lake Dobson Road on the weekend.
See you on Mt Mawson – Southern Tasmania’s only downhill ski resort!
