The end of the line (rope)!

After a great finale to the 2024 ski season the STSA volunteers were back in action at Mt Mawson Ski Field on Saturday 14 December for a post season clean up working bee. The main task was removing the old Mawson rope from the mountain  – this is the rope that broke and had to be replaced at the end of September to allow Spring skiing to continue.

It is surprising how much rope there is in one ski tow, but once again many hands made the task manageable.

Other tasks tackled during the working bee included trouble shooting the Mawson clutch, cleaning up the workshop areas, test running the new generator and undertaking some planning of snow fence repairs on the Uni Tow.

It was an enjoyable day out for the volunteers who help to keep the Mt Mawson Ski Field operating for the Tasmanian public, with lots of Waratah and scoparia in flower to add to the scene.

Upcoming working bees are scheduled for Sunday 23rd February 2025,  Sunday 23rd March 2025 and Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May 2025. Pop these dates in your diary – all help is gratefully received.
