This summer’s work programme at the Mt Mawson Ski Field kicks off this Sunday 22nd February 2026. As is always the case there are plenty of tasks to do to prepare the ski field for the coming Winter season, with the volume and complexity of work being matched to the skill sets and numbers of volunteers who turn up!

Once again our energetic Tow Maintenance Manager Craig Larsson has prepared a varied job list for us to tackle:

Snow fence realignment and repair
Scraper to de-ice grooves in pulleys in Mawson tow hut
Design for akja storage at top of Mawson run
Short pole and pulleys to divert Mawson rope & avoid need for trench digging at top of slope
Assess Mawson rope for possible re-splicing
General cleanup / safety checks

A number of the STSA Ski Clubs have working bees on this weekend – watch out for trailer loads of wood heading up the hill! It is hoped that a number of members will be able to stay on to give a hand on the ski field on Sunday.

If you would like to help out with the Mt Mawson Ski Field community meet at the Lake Dobson gate at 10:00 am Sunday.
