Snow Arrives

Mt Mawson has received its first winter snowfall, with 20 cm of fresh snow falling since Thursday. The new snow fences have worked well to ensure maximum capture of snow on the lower slopes of the Mawson run. We’ve seen a big increase in hits on this website and it’s clear that everyone is keen to get back on the slopes.

As you can seen from the webcam there is a good cover for snow play, but given it is the first fall of the season the base is not yet firm enough for downhill skiing. The tows won’t be running this weekend (28 -29 June), but it’s looking good for subsequent weekends if the snow falls continue.
