Current Visitor Facilities at Mt Field National Park

STSA President Peter Davis met with Premier and Minister for Tourism Will Hodgman MHA today to outline the case for improved visitor facilities in the Mt Field National Park. A key part of the discussion was the significant growth in visitor numbers to Mt Field (up to a new record of 162,000 visitors last calendar year), and the fact the current facilities provided for these visitors do not meet the expectations of either the community or the visiting tourists.

It is pleasing to learn that Parks are progressing a project to address this issue, and STSA have suggested that it would be great if a public announcement could be made outlining the plans – perhaps at the Mt Field 100th Anniversary Celebrations on 23rd and 24th April.
