The end of the era of the “temporary” ski patrol container at Mt Mawson Ski Field has finally arrived. After persevering with sub-standard first aid facilities for a number of years, it is great to know that progress is being made with construction of the new facility, and that the Ski Patrol Container will not be required for next ski season.

STSA Volunteers from the Mt Mawson Ski Patrol put in a big effort on Saturday, and we are pleased to advise that the Ski Patrol Container is now ready to be removed from the mountain. There was quite a bit of snow around, and the Koolhof’s had to fit chains on their 4WD to get up the Jeep Trail towing a trailer – the other 4WD driven by Paul Vince managed without chains.

The weather was pretty severe, but the team managed to empty the container of specialist medical items which will now be securely stored off the mountain until they are re-installed in the new facility (hopefully later this Summer). This is a great step forward, and we all await the construction of good quality first aid and visitor facilities at Mt Mawson with anticipation.
