It was a cold grey Saturday in Hobart, but an exciting winter wonderland up at Mt Field National Park. A number of visitors made their way up onto the mountain to enjoy the snow and the magnificent mountain scenery – we even met some tourists who had come all the way from Nepal!

Members of the Oldina Ski Club operated the Mawson Ski Tow in excellent snow conditions, allowing some great boarding and telemarking to be had. It snowed all day and was pretty windy up on top, so full winter gear was the order of the day.

Nevertheless a number of families with small children were able to enjoy tobogganing and snow play, before warming up again in the new public shelter.

The ski tows will be operating again tomorrow (Sunday 11th August) so come on up and enjoy classic Tasmanian winter downhill skiing and boarding – but remember to dress warmly!
