STSA has purchased timber to erect some additional snow fences at Mt Mawson to improve snow retention, particularly on the lower part of the Mawson Run. The materials will be delivered to the mountain on Friday 22 November, ready for a working bee on Saturday 23rd November and Sunday 24th November.

This is the first major investment in snow fence infrastructure in a number of years, and will complement the grooming work undertaken by PWS last season.

Come along and help with construction of some new fence panels, as well as repair of some that have been damaged. Its a fun and productive activity, and we have slightly modified the design to improve ease of construction and fence performance.Volunteers earn discount tow tickets for 2014. The working bee will start at 10:00 am on 23rd November.

I've been involved with Mt Mawson since 1990 as a volunteer and I'm a member of the Oldina Ski club. I'm into skiing, a bit of snow boarding, snow shoeing and I'm partial to taking the odd photo.
