Snowboarders carving the Mawson slope May 2015

Snowboarders carving the Mawson slope May 2015

Yes it was a Friday, and its only mid-May – but the snow was awesome at Mt Mawson! A number of enthusiastic snowboarders and cross country skiers took advantage of the good snowfall over the past week to escape the city and carve some turns on the Mawson run. Its only pre-season, and there is not enough snow at the bottom of the slope for an early season start to running the tows, but the snow at the top of the hill today was deep and firm. Check out the pile of snow behind the new snow fence at the top of the run!

It was great to see some beginner snowboarders having their first runs on the wide-open slopes. Lets hope we get some more snow like this as Winter truly sets in….
